Fresh eyes. Softer Heart. Sharper skills. Better teaching.
Three weekends for yoga teachers and trainees who want to deepen their understanding, sharpen their teaching skills and reignite their enthusiasm for teaching yoga.
Teaching yoga is a craft. And like any craft, it gets better when we keep learning, practising and looking at what we do with fresh eyes.
These weekends are an opportunity to step out of your usual teaching routine and spend some proper time with the things that really matter: how you use your voice, how you communicate, how you see and understand the body, how you sequence, how you work with philosophy, how you create a meaningful class and, ultimately, how you connect with your students.
The teaching is rooted in the Anusara approach, but you don't need to be an Anusara teacher to attend. The principles and skills we'll explore are relevant to any yoga teacher who wants to become more confident, thoughtful and skilful.
There will be plenty of practice, discussion, exploration and teaching — because you learn to teach by teaching.
And there is another important part of these weekends: being with other teachers. In Anusara Yoga we call this Kula.
Teaching can be surprisingly solitary. Getting together with people who understand the joys and challenges of teaching yoga creates a different kind of learning. We practise together, ask questions, share ideas, challenge one another and, hopefully, have plenty of laughs along the way.
Come for a whole weekend or choose individual Teacher Tune Up Days
Each weekend has a different focus, so you can choose the days that speak most strongly to where you are in your teaching right now.
Or come for all three and allow the learning to build. Everyday includes a led practice & teaching practice.
The first weekend is about the foundations of great teaching — how you communicate, how you understand the philosophy behind what you're teaching and how you begin to embody the principles you're asking your students to explore.
Yoga Teaching 101: Voicing & Language
How do you actually communicate what you want your students to experience? We'll explore voice, language and the words we choose — and how small changes can make a big difference.
Tantric Philosophy: The Five Powers & Five Qualities of the Absolute
A look at the philosophical ground beneath the Anusara approach and how these teachings can inform the way we practise and teach.
Opening to Grace
Exploring the first of the Anusara Universal Principles of Alignment and what it means to begin from a place of openness and trust.
Muscular & Organic Energy
A practical exploration of two fundamental principles of Anusara alignment, Expansion & Contraction— and how understanding them can transform the way you practice teach asana.
The Seat of the Teacher
What does it mean to stand in front of a room and teach from a place of authenticity, clarity and confidence?
Pose Study
A hands-on exploration of asana, alignment and observation. Less talking, more doing.

The second weekend moves into the relationship between alignment, philosophy and the architecture of a class.
We'll look at how the principles of Anusara can give you a framework for making intelligent teaching choices rather than simply following a formula.
Spirals
Explore the fluid nature of Anusara spirals and how they influence alignment, movement and the way we understand the body.
Tantric Philosophy: The Guiding Light
How can philosophy actually guide our teaching rather than becoming something we simply talk about at the beginning of class (or not)?
The Ethics of a High-Integrity Teacher
Power, responsibility, boundaries and the relationship between teacher and student.
Energetic Loops
A deep exploration of the 7 Loops and the Universal Principles of Alignment and how they work together.
Sequencing
How do you create a sequence that has intelligence, purpose and flow rather than simply putting poses one after another?
The Two Main Flows of Consciousness
Exploring the descending flow and the ascending flow of awareness that can inform how we move through practice & life and how we teach movement.
The final weekend brings together breath, meditation, philosophy and theming, exploring how we can create classes that have coherence, meaning and depth.
Breath & Movement
Exploring the relationship between breath and movement and how we can use this relationship more skilfully in our teaching.
Making Time for Meditation
Meditation isn't an optional extra. We'll explore practical ways to bring meditation into our teaching and our own lives.
The Five Koshas
An introduction to this traditional model of the layers or dimensions of human experience.
Introduction to Theming
What makes a theme meaningful? And how do we move beyond simply giving our students a nice idea to think about?
Theming: Universal, Personal & Individual
Exploring different ways of finding and developing a theme — from the universal to the deeply personal.
Weaving a Theme
How do you actually bring a theme into a class without hammering your students over the head with it?
Breath & Prana
A deeper look at the relationship between breath, life force, practice & teaching
Exploration: “The World Teaches Us About the Divine”
An opportunity to explore how our experience of the world around us can become part of our practice and our teaching.
You can book an individual Teacher Tune Up Day if there is a particular area you'd like to explore.
Or book the whole weekend and allow the material to unfold over two days.
And if you feel that it's time to really invest in your teaching, come to all three. The weekends have been designed to build on one another and give you the opportunity to develop your skills over time.
Come with your questions. Come ready to practice. Come ready to teach.
And perhaps most importantly, come and spend some time with your yoga people.
